Post-concussion Energy and Hope

One of the greatest challenges we have in healing from a mild Traumatic Brain Injury is maintaining post-concussion energy and hope. The challenges of balancing work and recovery or even just maintaining activities of daily living adds a layer of stress and frustration. Neurologically, brain fog and cognitive fatigue are major contributers to the emotional response of anxiety and depression in post-concusion syndrome sufferers.

 

To keep a healing mindset. managing and boosting energy post-concussion and maintaining hope are critical. Without motivation and positivity post-concussion, one simply does not have the willpower to implement strategies for natural healing the brain.

 

Several factors add to this challenge. Personality changes, difficulty communicating or anger issues after concussion are disorienting. It is possible to loose one’s sense of self. Other’s around you may also loose their sense of who you are to them at a time when you need their support the most. Understanding and working with these dynamics will lead to a more complete and rapid recovery from post-concussion syndrome.
